Friends of the Alliance

Good Earth Food Alliance is about more than just food - it's about the choices we make as individuals and as communities.  The growers within Good Earth Food Alliance (GEFA) choose practices that not only sustain the environment in which the food is grown - these practices actually build up the soil and increase it's ability to garner nutrients from the earth and store them up in the foods harvested.  We don't focus on bushels per acre or commodity prices - we strive for better nutrition and quality in the foods we harvest and pass along to our local communities.

Says Good Earth grower Lyndon Hartz, "I grow all of my crops using natural fertilizers like compost, cover crops, rotations, and natural pest controls such as row covers, organic insecticides and beneficial insects and an old fashioned means of weed control...a cold peice of steel.  I put as much thought into raising the actual crop, as I do thinking about how I will continue to build the soil to sustain my farm for years to come.  It may not be the easy way, but I feel it to be the best - and the quality of my crops shows it."

Through eco-friendly production and distribution methods, we can be certain we aren't contributing to the growth of dead zones in the Gulf of Mexico, excessive carbon release through lengthy transporation routes, or health problems from exposure to chemicals.  There are a thousand reasons why we choose to grow sustainable foods for a local population.  Join us in this endeavor!
