Why choose GEFA?
Good Earth Food Alliance (GEFA) growers are not your typical farmers so GEFA foods are not your typical foods. Here's why:
- Foods from GEFA are harvested less than 24 hours before they reach your door. The other suppliers are often trucking the foods for days before it reaches you.
- Methods used to grow foods in GEFA are sustainable - unlike some of the methods used to grow the foods available from other suppliers. Choosing to buy from GEFA means choosing to invest your food dollars into land that will be able to produce high quality foods well into the future.
- Growing food the GEFA way requires more labor intensive practices. Spraying with chemicals is the easiest and cheapest way to produce food - but is it the best for those eating the foods and is it the best for the ecosystem in which the food is grown?
- Growers within the Good Earth Food Alliance don't make it their aim to produce the cheapest food their land will offer. They aim to produce the highest flavors, textures, and nutritional values. We care about the people consuming our food because they're our family, friends, and neighbors!
We offer more than just food - we offer peace of mind too!
Over 40 years combined growing and marketing experience by folks who have worked with chefs and buyers throughout central Illinois - that's the GEFA network of growers and producers.
