Basil's Harvest

The Basil’s Harvest Story

My Nona taught me how to appreciate what foods were served at the table.  We would spend Saturdays cooking and laughing together.  Those memories created a passion that I share with my family and would like to share with your family.   Basil’s Harvest was founded in 2001 using the highest quality ingredients that are local, herbicide and pesticide free, or organic to create “gourmet stuff” like my Nona would make.  As we grow, it is our mission to support local growers that practice only the best growing methods.

Members of Good Earth Food Alliance CSA can add Basil's Harvest products to their share. Read more about what Basil's Harvest is offering.

Bakery

Foccacia :  An Italian flat bread made with non-GMO, pesticide-free flour obtained from a producer in Montana creates the perfect means for a Panini sandwich or toasted garlic bread.  The kids' favorite is to just pull it apart and eat it.  Foccacia ia a great compliment to a summer salad, bowl of soup, or a simple pasta dish.

Varieties:  1 pound each

  • Foccacia with Nona’s Rub:  Non-gmo pesticide free white flour, water, oil, yeast, Nona’s rub (Kosher salt, fresh garlic, fresh rosemary, fresh sage, and pepper).

  • Foccacia with Rosemary: Non-gmo pesticide free white flour, water, yeast, oil, kosher salt, fresh rosemary.

Italian:   Simple bread creates a great sandwich, toast, or French toast.  Basil’s Harvest favorite is grilled with home grown tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, and snipped basil from the garden splashed with a dash of red wine vinaigrette.

Soup

Specially Prepared Soups:  These soups are made like it was 100 years ago.  The stock is made from local ingredients or organic produce, and homemade pastas are all standard.  Whether it is a traditional soup made with faro or chick peas or a standard chicken noodle, these soups are sure to please.

Herbal Infused Vinegars

Fresh herbs, which are raised in a pesticide and herbicide free environment, are chosen with care from my farm along with other farms in Central Illinois and infused into high quality vinegar where it ages for 1 year. The aging process allows the vinegar to mellow and the herbs to release their essential oils.  At this time the herbal vinegar is strained to remove any impurities and bottled for your creative uses.
